Rohde & Schwarz NRP40S Three-Path Diode Power Sensor

Overview

The Rohde & Schwarz NRP40S is a three-path diode power sensor designed for universal RF and microwave power measurement applications. It provides up to 93 dB dynamic range with an excellent lower measurement limit of –70 dBm, offering measurement accuracy comparable to thermal power sensors but with significantly higher speed and sensitivity.

The sensor uses three separate diode paths, each operated in the optimum detector range. As a result, average power can be determined with high accuracy independent of modulation type. Measurement results are hardly affected by interfering signals or harmonics. Adjacent diode paths overlap by 6 dB, with all paths continuously and simultaneously measured, ensuring smooth transitions and eliminating problems such as hysteresis effects and differential nonlinearity.
