Overview

The Magna Power ALx Series is a programmable DC electronic load utilizing linear MOSFET-based dissipative elements to achieve a wide voltage-current operating range within its maximum power rating. The ALx17.5-500-1750 model is rated for 500V and 1750A operation with 17.5kW maximum power dissipation. Conservative thermal management ensures reliable continuous full-power operation in ambient temperatures up to 50°C.

The ALx Series employs MOSFETs operated in the linear region, allowing full power and complete control across the entire VA rating. MOSFETs are specifically selected for safe operating margins well below their maximum ratings. Closed-loop control circuitry linearizes response and enables multiple MOSFETs to share load current equally, delivering stable and predictable load characteristics across the voltage-current operating profile.
