Overview

The Magna Power ALx Series DC Electronic Load utilizes conventional linear MOSFET-based dissipative elements, enabling a wide voltage-current operating range within the model's maximum power rating. Using heat management innovations developed for Magna-Power's programmable DC power supplies, the ALx Series achieves conservative cooling for continuous full-power operation in environments up to 50°C ambient temperature.

Technology

The ALx Series employs MOSFETs for power dissipation, operating in the linear region to provide full power and control across the entire VA rating. This approach delivers one of the industry's widest full-power operating ranges for electronic load instruments.

MOSFET devices are carefully selected for safe operation well below maximum power ratings when used as active loads. Closed-loop control circuitry linearizes response, with each device producing load current defined by VC/Rn. Multiple MOSFETs share load current equally through closed-loop amplifiers.
