Power Clamp-ons

Power clamp-on probes are flexible current sensing accessories designed for use with power quality analyzers and energy loggers. Using Rogowski coil or split-core transformer technology, they enable non-invasive measurement of AC current on live conductors without interrupting service. Flexible jaw designs allow engineers to wrap the probe around large, irregularly shaped, or tightly spaced conductors that rigid clamps cannot accommodate, making them particularly valuable in switchgear, distribution panels, and industrial motor control centers.

These probes are essential in any power quality investigation, delivering accurate current waveform data that instruments use to calculate power factor, harmonics, flicker, voltage unbalance, and energy consumption. Available in various opening diameters and current ranges, power clamp-on probes support measurements from a few amperes to several thousand amperes.

Typical Applications

  • Three-phase power quality monitoring on main service feeders and distribution panels
  • Energy auditing and load profiling in commercial and industrial facilities
  • Harmonic analysis on variable frequency drives (VFDs) and motor loads
  • Substation and utility metering verification
  • Commissioning and troubleshooting of electrical power installations
