Overview
The Viavi E81IPMD is a PMD testing module for the T-BERD/MTS-6000A and -8000 platforms. It measures polarization mode dispersion (PMD), a critical parameter for characterizing fiber suitability in high-data-rate transmission systems. While PMD limitations present manageable challenges at 10 Gbps, reduced thresholds for 40G and 100G networks require accurate measurement and analysis.
