Description
Overview
The Bruel & Kjaer 4226 Multifunction Acoustic Calibrator enables simulated free-field and diffuse-field calibration of microphones, sound level meters, and other related acoustic instruments. It generates accurate and stable sound pressure across a wide frequency range from 31.5 Hz to 16 kHz in octave steps, plus a signal at 12.5 kHz. The device can apply the calibration signal using a supplied coupler compatible with both ½-inch and ¼-inch microphones, or via electrical output.
Key Features
- Frequency range: 31.5 Hz to 16 kHz in octave steps plus 12.5 kHz signal
- Three calibration levels: 94 dB, 104 dB, and 114 dB
- Free-field simulation for most ½-inch Bruel & Kjaer microphones
- Inverse A-weighting correction available
- Compatible with ½-inch and ¼-inch microphones
- Recurrent pulses for time-weighting and burst signal checks
- Meets EN/IEC 942 (1988) Class I and ANSI S 1.40-1984 standards
Applications
- Calibration and verification of sound level meters
- Verification of microphone setups per IEC 60651 and ANSI S 1.4-1983
- Field and laboratory instrument verification per IEC 61672
- Acoustic transducer quality control testing
