Description
Overview
The Rohde & Schwarz NGP824 is a 4-channel DC power supply from the NGP800 series, offering 800W total output power with maximum flexibility. Each channel independently supplies 0-64V at up to 10A, with outputs that are galvanically isolated and capable of series or parallel connection for extended voltage (up to 250V) or current (up to 80A) capabilities. The large 5-inch touchscreen display provides intuitive control and real-time access to all functions and settings.
Key Features
- 4 isolated output channels, 800W total (200W max per channel)
- 0-64V/10A per channel with 1mV/0.5mA programming resolution
- 5-inch touchscreen display (800×480 WVGA) for easy operation
- Built-in measurements: voltage, current, power, and energy with ±0.05% accuracy
- Integrated data logging with real-time voltage and current acquisition on all channels
- QuickArb function for arbitrary voltage/current sequences (dwell times to 1ms)
- Voltage ripple and noise less than 3mV RMS (20Hz-20MHz)
- Load recovery time under 400μs for 10-90% load changes
- Protection functions: OVP, OCP, OPP, OTP
- USB, LAN interfaces; optional GPIB, digital trigger I/O, analog input, wireless LAN
Applications
- Automated test systems and bench-top equipment testing
- Power subsystem emulation and DUT design verification
- Long-term monitoring with data logging for power behavior analysis
- Research and development of power-sensitive devices
Specifications
| Touch Display | The large high-resolution touch display makes operation easy. Quickly navigate through the menus to access all functions and settings. Enter values much faster using the virtual keyboard instead of turning the knob. The home screen gives you a clear overview of all your channels. Each channel can be selected for a more detailed view with a wide variety of additional information, such as statistics and icons indicating the status of set protection or special functions. |
| Flex Power | Get the maximum power at various operating points. Unlike with single range power supplies, you can generate variable voltage and current combinations within the overall power limit of 200 W per channel. |
| Parallel & Serial Operation | If your application requires more voltage or current, simply connect the outputs in series or parallel and get up to 250 V (NGP824) or 80 A (NGP804) – now you have the flexibility you always asked for. Using the tracking function, voltage and current are adjusted on all selected channels simultaneously. |
| Built-in Measurements | The built-in measurements reduce the need for an external multimeter and simplify the setup. The separate voltage and current meters on each output give a resolution of 1 mV and 0.5 mA over the full output range of 64 V and 20 A, respectively. The integrated statistics show the min./max. and average values for power, voltage and current as well as an energy count. |
| Data Logging | Logging data is key to long-term monitoring, reviewing test setups and repeating test conditions when analyzing power behaviors or optimizing power consumption. The NGP800 power supplies simultaneously log voltage and current measurements over time on all outputs. You can easily export the timestamped data as a .CSV file for reports and documentation. |
| Arbitrary Function | Emulate the normal behaviors of your power subsystems early in the design process and simulate power problems for DUT design verification. The QuickArb function lets you generate voltage and current sequences that vary over time with dwell times down to 1 ms. Load up to eight subgroup files into one sequence to create complex patterns. |
| Graphical View | The Graphical View function allows fast and convenient analysis, especially of changing processes, such as charging and discharging or switching between different operating states of a DUT. Integrating all measurements in one box not only reduces the complexity of the test setup, but also ensures the integrity and correlation of all measurements by design. |
| Remote Control via VNC Client | Via VNC connection the NG800 power supplies can be controlled and operated from any location. All functions that can be reached by analog operation can also be accessed via remote control by VNC. The connection between power supply and PC can be established via LAN in the same network. |
