Impedance Analyzers

Impedance analyzers are high-precision instruments used to measure the complex impedance of electronic components, materials, and devices across a wide range of frequencies. Unlike basic LCR meters, impedance analyzers provide detailed frequency-swept characterization, generating impedance versus frequency plots and extracting equivalent circuit models. They measure parameters including impedance magnitude, phase angle, resistance, reactance, capacitance, inductance, Q factor, and dissipation factor with very high accuracy across frequency ranges that can extend from millihertz to several gigahertz depending on the model.

These instruments are used wherever detailed component or material behavior across frequency is critical. They support engineers in validating simulation models, characterizing dielectric and magnetic materials, measuring resonance characteristics, and performing network analysis on passive components. Many models offer programmable DC bias and level sweeps for studying component nonlinearity.

Typical Applications

  • Frequency-domain characterization of capacitors, inductors, and transformers in R&D
  • Dielectric and magnetic material analysis in materials science and electromagnetics
  • Resonator and filter characterization in RF and microwave engineering
  • Equivalent circuit model extraction for SPICE simulation libraries
  • Piezoelectric and MEMS device characterization in medical and automotive R&D
  • Incoming quality control and acceptance testing for high-precision passive components
