Safran

Safran is a French multinational aerospace and defense group with a dedicated Navigation & Timing division that designs and manufactures GNSS simulation and timing synchronization equipment. This division, which incorporates technology from the former Orolia group, produces constellation simulators used to test and validate GNSS receivers across all major satellite navigation systems including GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, and BeiDou. Their simulators generate hardware-in-the-loop RF signal environments that replicate real-world satellite navigation scenarios without requiring live satellite signals.

Safran's GNSS simulators are used throughout the product development lifecycle — from early receiver design and algorithm validation to production-line testing and regulatory certification. The GSG series simulators are known for their multi-constellation, multi-frequency capabilities and their ability to simulate interference, jamming, and spoofing scenarios for resilience testing.

Key Product Lines

  • GNSS Constellation Simulators — multi-constellation RF signal simulators for GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, and BeiDou receiver testing
  • Timing and Synchronization Instruments — precision timing references and synchronization solutions for critical infrastructure
  • Interference Testing Tools — jamming and spoofing simulation for GNSS receiver resilience validation

Industries Served

Safran navigation and timing instruments are used in aerospace and defense programs, autonomous vehicle development, maritime navigation, telecommunications network synchronization, space system testing, and civil aviation. Their GNSS simulators are a standard tool in receiver chipset development, avionics certification, and military navigation system qualification programs.
